Can you believe it’s basically Christmas?! Seriously. Cue the jingle bells. The time is upon us. I started doing a December album last year and really enjoyed the process. This year as I pulled it out, it was really fun to look back on our memories with ease. I used the Project Life system for simplicity sake and it worked really well for me. With little ones, that grow so quick, I think, when I look back, I will be especially thankful that I took the time to capture our holiday season during these young years with my boys.
So Michaels has had a lot of great deals on albums lately so I went fully intending to purchase this year’s book. I picked one out and had it in my cart. However, I am working on being conscious of every purchase I make. It brings something into my home that I now have to manage. I have worked (and am still working) to remove unnecessary clutter & possessions from our home this year. It hit me in the middle of the craft store, why would I buy a new album? I bought a large album last year, which has plenty of space left in it… Why not just make one large album that holds as many Christmas memories as possible?? Talk about simplifying the process. Why have 10 different books for 10 years of Christmas’? I put that new album right back on the shelf. I felt relief over catching myself before making an unnecessary purchase. (I’m sure as my husband reads this, he is grateful that purchase wasn’t made as well.) 🙂 Honestly, I think if I never spent another penny at any craft store ever again he would die a happy man.
I digress. Back to the album. I got home pulled out last year’s book and started scheming up a way to separate out the years going forward. When in doubt, always go with gold glitter. I found a fabulous bold print, that is perfect for the holidays, in the mambi Home Sweet Home Frame & Craft elements paper pad. I grabbed some Gold Glitter Uppercase letters & numbers and added a 2015 as a side tab on the paper. Done. And done. That simple. Now I’m ready to start adding our memories this year. Are you doing a December album? Do you do one year per album or try to get multiple years into one book?
